Abstract
Anal incontinence is not a life threatening condition, but the psychologic burden of to t fecal soiling can be crippling as any physical disability at when no known functioning sphincter muscles are present, surgical correction of this distressing condition other than by stomal fecal diversion is aimed at recreating a sphincter mechanism under volitional controls is among the transfer of many muscle flaps, the use of the inferior portion of only one gluteus maximus ntuscle has the advantages that preserves posterior hip stability and the proximal neurovascular supply to the portion of muscle that surrounds the anus. This procedure could potentially be used for rectal sphincter reconstruction in selected case after ablative surgery or trauma in the anal region, especially when the nerve supply to the anal region and contiguous muscle is destroyed. We reconstructed one case of anal sphincter destruction due to trauma by double-split gluteus maximus muscle flap transfer and obtained a good anal continence and forceful sphincter tone.
